The situation
Area Modern Home sells modern furniture from two showrooms in Greensboro and Durham. Their old site was one page: a logo and an address. People searching for the brands they carry, Gus Modern, Blu Dot, BDI, Ethnicraft, had no way to find out a local store stocked them. They didn't need ecommerce. They needed to exist in search.
What I did
Built a custom WordPress theme from scratch, no page builder, no framework. Scraped and structured the full 150-piece catalog from their main manufacturer, then imported it into a custom data model: products, categories, collections, and brands, each with its own indexable archive. Every brand they carry gets a dedicated page. Every product page carries structured data, spec sheets, and a path to the showroom. Self-hosted fonts, conditionally loaded CSS, and JSON-LD schema throughout. The site's one job is to be the answer when someone nearby searches for this style of furniture.
Results
Launched July 2026. PageSpeed 97 on mobile with perfect SEO and best-practices scores, zero layout shift, zero main-thread blocking. Two hundred plus indexable pages where there used to be one. The store is also now listed on all six of its brands' dealer locators, so the site and the brand ecosystem point at each other.
